Mrs. Cathy

Founder & Director

Over the years, I have taught preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, GED classes, computer classes, French, English, and English as a Second Language. In 1995, I founded Cathy's Corner, which became Alpine Academy. As the preschool grew, we needed another building for the children in kindergarten and up, and Eagle Creek Academy was born. I believe teaching and learning are the most important jobs in the world, and I am still loving every minute of my time in education. Please give us a call and tell us about you and your children. We are eager to be a loving part of your lives.

Manager

While growing up, I volunteered in several preschool classrooms after school, and in doing so, I discovered my passion for early childhood education. There’s nothing more rewarding than nurturing children as they grow, learn and develop a love for school. One of my favorite parts of my career is finding creative ways to make each day exciting and joyful for kids. Before joining Alpine in 2021, I earned my associate degree in Early Childhood Education and spent two years working with toddlers at a childcare center in Lake Orion. I’m thrilled to be back at Alpine after my maternity break with my son, Kal, and even more excited to take on my new role as Manager. I look forward to creating meaningful memories with you and your children!

Sarah Oliver

Mrs. Sarah

Business Director

I grew up in Sterling Heights and graduated from Missouri State University. I also spent two years studying abroad. I especially enjoyed travelling through Germany where I became fascinated with WWII history. Before coming to Alpine, I was the Director of HR & the Administrator of Finance where I handled bookkeeping, payroll, employee relations, and new clients. While there, I became a certified professional in human resources (SHRM-CP). I have moved around a great deal in life -- physically, spiritually, academically, and professionally -- and worked in a wide variety of careers including food service, hospitality, retail, accounting, management, substance-abuse, and professional theatre. All of this growth ultimately led me to Alpine, where I am thrilled to have found my forever home. I have one son, Tucker, whose favorite subjects are math, spelling, and art. In our free time, we enjoy biking, swimming, reading, and painting. I look forward to getting to know you. • 2013 BS in Psychology from Missouri State University

Mrs. Shail

Teacher

Hello! I am a committed toddler teacher who loves to nurture young minds. After finishing my bachelor degree in Political Science and Psychology in 2003, I worked with small children in India and realized that was my future. When I moved to Michigan, I completed my Montessori certification from NAMC and my CDA in early childhood education, and then I returned to teaching children. Before coming to Alpine, I taught children at Miss Dee Dee’s and Our Shepherd Lutheran School. I offer a gentle and engaging learning environment where young children may explore, play, and practice skills. Through hands-on experiences, I present a solid foundation for lifetime learning.

Being able to educate young children is a blessing for me. I love watching their minds work and finding ways to reach them emotionally and academically. Before coming to Alpine, I managed a couple local restaurants for seven years. This experience taught me patience and dedication which I am eager to share with your and your family. Please say hi. I’d love to hear how I can team up with you to make Alpine a great experience.

As the oldest of seven siblings, I’ve been immersed in caregiving from a young age, giving me plenty of hands-on experience. Professionally, I’ve spent the last 10 years working in preschool and childcare settings where I’ve developed a love for supporting children on their journey. I recently relocated from Florida, where I earned my associate degree as a Medical Assistant. Currently, I’m pursuing my CDA certification to further enhance my expertise in early childhood education. I'm especially interested in helping children find joy in early reading skills. I am happy to be part of the Alpine family, partner with you, and contribute to your child's learning. Please stop by to say hello.

Hello! I’m thrilled to be teaching at Alpine, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your child as we learn and grow together. Teaching has always been a true passion of mine. I’ve had the joy of working with children from infancy through age 3 and love helping little ones explore and discover the world around them. I hold two associate degrees from Oakland Community College, as well as an Infant/Toddler CDA certification. Before joining Alpine, I worked as a lead teacher at KinderCare and spent several summers as a camp counselor, so combining learning with summertime fun is something I truly enjoy. When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending quality time with friends and family, and hanging out with my husband and our two fur babies—a cat and a dog. We’re also excited to be expecting a new addition to our family this September. Please reach out if you have questions or just want to say hello. I love talking about your kids!

After completing my MBA in Finance at Osmania University and working in the corporate world for ten years, I joined my sister in opening a playschool. Managing and teaching there was the best decision I had made. In 2019, I found my way to Eagle Creek and Alpine. Now I am at Alpine every day and enjoying every minute. I believe each child is talented and unique in his or her own way, and it is upon us as teachers to bring out the best in them. Please stop by to visit. I'd love to get to know you and your little one.

Every day, I am excited to share my experience as an educator with the children here at Alpine. Over the past thirty years, I have taught preschool and elementary school both during the school year and at summer camp. I especially enjoy science and social studies activities. When my boys were younger, I really liked volunteering as the Robotics mom. As a longtime teacher and a proud mom and grandmother, I have developed a deep understanding of children’s needs at every stage, and I am committed to creating an engaging, inclusive environment, whether through play or hands-on projects, that fosters teamwork, curiosity and critical thinking. One of my passions is building strong relationships not only with the children but also with their families, which is key to supporting the children’s success. I feel blessed and honored to know the families at Alpine, and I look forward to meeting you.

Over the years, I have dedicated much of my time to working with children through a variety of volunteer and professional roles. My passion for engaging with children and supporting their growth and development has been a constant in my life. With over a decade of experience in childcare—as a caregiver, Pediatric Medical Assistant, and children’s program director—I have gained a deep understanding of how to nurture and guide young learners. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Wayne State University and have almost completed a Master's in Elementary Education at Oakland University. I recently finished my student teaching, which further affirmed my commitment to creating inclusive, supportive and engaging classroom environments. Working with children brings me immense joy. I strive to cultivate spaces where every child feels seen, valued and inspired to learn. Helping them grow into confident, curious individuals is both a privilege and a calling.

My whole life has been dedicated to taking care of children. At the age of thirteen, I began my childcare career as a devoted babysitter and nanny and have never looked back. In 2016, after my son was born, I opened a licensed daycare center in Redondo Beach, California. In 2019, I decided to use my business acumen to help a fellow mom open and manage her new company called South Bay Mommy & Me. While working there, I was the head liaison for resources and referrals. One of my favorite duties was helping new mothers navigate their journey by setting up support groups with certified therapists. In 2021, I took a teaching position at Peninsula Montessori School in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California. There, I co-taught in a kindergarten and first-grade class, and I taught Art to other classes. Now that my husband, my son and I are back home in Michigan, I have completed my associate's degree in Child Development and am working toward my bachelor's degree. I am delighted to have discovered the amazing group of teachers and families at Alpine Academy. Please let me know your hopes and dreams for your child, and I promise we will work hard to make them come true.

Mr. Craig

Facility Manager

I have been managing Alpine's campus since 2007. I like keeping the building and grounds in tiptop shape, from the garbage disposals to the air conditioning units. I also own and manage Knox Lawn & Landscape, which is how I originally came to Alpine. Originally from North Branch, I now live in Dryden with my wife and three children. I enjoy snowmobiling, boating, and spending time with family.

Mr. Smith

Custodian

I have been working for Alpine since 2016. It's a great job because I get to tinker with things and help people. I enjoy big projects such as refurbishing old cupboards. I spend my free time working on cars, collecting precious metals, and hanging out with my grandson. If you see me around, please say hello!
